| Intro to the Dynamic Warm-up |
|
At MAX Performance, this is where the dynamic warm-up comes into play. The days of standing around and holding a stretch for 30 seconds are fading away. Well, at least in terms of pre-competition warm-up and flexibility. Research has shown that static stretching prior to competition can have a negative effect on power output. To prepare properly, the athlete should develop a solid dynamic warm-up routine. The benefits are huge in terms of performance development: increased body temperature and better muscle fiber recruitment for sport-specific movements. This allows the athlete to properly prepare his or her muscles for explosive movements such as those found in almost all sports. |
